1. MRE's - Meals, Ready To Eat - No Cooking required
MRE's = Meals, Ready To Eat - Full Meal packs 12 per case. 6 menus twice per case. A great survival food. This is the easiest food to store and eat in any emergency. Only your fingers are required. This is the food you see being used in most of the disasters and emergency situations around the world. Just like the military MRE's only made for general civilian use. See below for details.

3. Freeze Dried Foods - No Cooking required. Just Add Water.
Freeze Dried Foods are the second easiest food to use in most any emergency. You just need to add water, wait 10 minutes and eat. No cooking is required. Hot water makes a hot meal and cold water makes a cold meal.

4. Air Dried - Dehydrated Foods
Air Dried Food in #10 cans ( about a gallon size ) Many of the air dried foods will require some cooking to help rehydrate them. Many do not, for example apple sauce granules only require cold water and then you are ready to eat. Potato granules are instant mashed potatoes and if you add them to boiling water along with some salt and butter you are ready to eat. Peas, corn carrots require 10-15 minute simmer to rehydrate. Please note the variety we put in our units for a more balanced diet.

5. Grains, Beans, Seeds, Legumes in poly buckets
Grains, beans, seed, and legumes packed for long storage in poly buckets. These items are your least expensive and generally require more work to be able to eat them. Wheat, for instance, needs to be ground into flour for bread, rolls, and pancakes. This means you will need a grain mill which we also have available.

How to use this unit: Take one cup of rice plus 2 cups of water and place in a pot with lid and bring to a boil. Let sit for 1/2 hour and the rice is done. 10 minutes before the rice is done take 1/2 cup of freeze dried food and rehydrate it with boiling water in a pan or bowl. Then put the, now warm, freeze dried food over the rice for a hot and tasty meal. Yum! We really enjoy ours. We do this alot just for a quick and easy meal. You will have extra rice with this amount made.

This amount of rice is enough for one person for one day so you will not have to remake rice each meal unless you desire to. Any amount of rice can be made using the ratio explained above. Once you make your first meal you will see the amount of rice it makes and you can adjust to your personal needs. This unit contains plenty of rice so you should not be hungry. Other items may be added to this menu that you already have or may procure in the future. No Cooking is great!

Seed Count for The Survival Center's Individual Packets

As everyone who deals in garden seed is no doubt aware, the number of seeds per packet could be a much more meaningful figure than seed weight when estimating how much food you can expect and plan for in your garden. For example, all common commercial seed packets show weights such as, "25 mg" or "1.2 grams" or 1 ounce. A couple of companies add the approximate number of seeds in their packets as well: Approx. 10-15 tomato seeds. Or they tell you their packets will plant "25 feet of row." If you open commercial packets of seed like those commonly sold on seed racks across the U.S., or even those from popular catalogs, you will find a pitifully small sample of seed for their $2.49-$4.59 or whatever price. In fact, their colorful packets, catalogs and display racks cost more than the seed they put in the envelope, so this is what customers must pay for.

Our seed packets are and have always been "plain vanilla", that is, we don't spend money on fancy packaging but, instead, put nearly all of our money into our outstanding non-hybrid, non-GMO, heirloom seed. Because of this decision, our seed packets contain up to TEN TIMES more seeds than others. I will provide an envelope by envelope summary, below, but first.

We have received phone calls from customers asking "Do you guys have 10,000 seeds in your package like company xyz does?" We patiently explain that it is EASY for companies to put 10,000 seeds in a package, so total seed count is NOT the way to compare one company's offer with another. For example, we can put 15-20 expensive tomato seeds in one envelope, 20 peas in another, 100 lettuces in another, etc. Then, in order to impress our customers, we could put 1900 comparatively cheap wheat seeds in another and, when all the envelopes are totaled, claim (honestly) that the package contains 10,000 seeds. But, will that package provide enough nutritionally sound eating for at least four people for the present and future? No, of course not!

Beware of claims of total seed counts! They are nearly as meaningless as weights on a seed packet unless you KNOW how much "x" numbers of tomato seed weigh. Okay, so where does that leave The Survival Center's seed count on the 40 pack seed packages? Well, we sat down and counted them for you so you could make a meaningful choice, not that all seeds are created equal, of course. Just for the record, we came up with over 10,450 seeds per one of our 40-packs. That's very impressive considering they are not cheap "filler seeds" meant to impress someone. So here they are:

The tray pack has 18 servings per tray (2/3 cup)with 4 trays per case. These are great buys. We recently did a test at a friends evening family dinner . There were 14 people present including 3 younger teen boys and two older teen girls and other adults of various ages. We served three tray packs of different varieties along with some salad, steamed veggie and 1/2 garlic bread stick per person. We put a 1 cup measuring cup in each tray ( recommended serving size is 2/3 cup ) and gave each a full one cup serving times three. That is is lot of food. Most came back for seconds of at least one of the tray pack entrees and the teens came back for seconds and thirds. Boy, were we surprised. We even had some left over.

These tray packs really have a lot of food in them. You can warm them up in your oven, over a camp fire, wood heater top, or most any heat source ( they even taste o.k. cold). Please take advantage of this offer while they are still available.

Shipping Note: The key to shipping many of the heavier products is to get at least 200# going to one location from the same warehouse. Example: you want to buy some candles but want to spread your dollars around and get some food also. You could combine some poly buckets of grain, several cases of MRE's, and several cases of candles and other items to make the 200# min. weight. This way you get a better rate for shipping.
